Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

Met Callie J at the rec center this early early morning for some fine pool swimming.  My ankle is still really feeling good.  Hooray!  I'm going to do my run tomorrow outside.

 5 min warm up

2 sets of:

6x2:30 min (30 sec rest)

5 min cool down

Finally - here is a picture of my hubby's race on Saturday (took me long enough to figure out!!).  Go Tim!

have you tried saving it as a jpg and then using HTML to post the picture? If HTML won't work, try BBC code. You will probably need to save it to a photo sharing site like photobucket

Look at you blogging like a pro. Are you getting ready to punch someone?

From Toby on Tue, Mar 16, 2010 at 17:06:29 from 216.194.124.36

Burt - I'm totally a puncher! It was SO freezing cold on Saturday morning, I was trying to conserve every ounce of body heat.

From Burt on Tue, Mar 16, 2010 at 17:19:57 from 206.19.214.144

I guess that explains why your children are so well behaved. Your husband looks like he was king for the day.

I know... I told Nevels I wasn't sure if I wanted to accept you... haha. You are still pending until further notice. He told me to go for it - You're an engineer so that automatically makes you a good guy. LOL.

From Burt on Tue, Mar 16, 2010 at 19:10:48 from 206.19.214.144

LOL! Nevels knows his stuff. But I'm not going to lie to you. I thought I found you a long time ago. It was hard because the only clues I had to go on were 1) your name is Kristen 2) you're from Alabama 3) you're BFF's name is Amy 4) you have smaller boobs than me. That should have been enough, but there's someone else that matches your profile. When that person accepted me right away as a friend I knew it wasn't you. Now I need to go back to that person and explain to them how I was trying to stalk someone else and got them instead. LOL. BTW, do you know a certain Paige Metcalf?

Nice work in the pool! I hope the outside run went well. What a cute family! Your hubby does look like he's king for a day. SO proud!

Burt...I've seen you around on lots of other bloggers FB accounts :)

From Burt on Wed, Mar 17, 2010 at 19:16:19 from 206.19.214.144

I know Rachel. I don't have real friends, only internet friends. Please accept my friend request.
