Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

Foot/PF is feeling a lot better.   Sartorius muscle...on the inner side of my left thigh (I think that is the muscle I've done something to) is still very sore and sensitive. From my internet research, I maybe irritated when I do all my walking lunges. I tried to do some really hard and deep massage on it last night.  The verdict is still out on whether I've irritated it more or it helped.

I feel like I'm am walking injury bucket.  SOMETHING is always off.  WHAT in the heck am I doing wrong.  SO frustrating.

So sorry to hear about these *buggers*. Sure is frustrating!

WAY to stay positive and proactive. LOVE all the strength training exercises you're doing. These are the maintenance things that are so important and often neglected. You're doing the right thing to make sure there are no imbalance. Hang in there.

I feel that way sometimes too. I wish I knew the answer :( Keep doing the strength training stuff. It will pay off! I'm with Smooth, just hang in there and keep doin' what you're doin'!

I like to think I did my planks with you today :)

Yes, I understand what you are going through. There always seems to be SOMETHING wrong right? It's because we are crazy running ladies and our bodies are telling us to knock it off and we keep at it!!! (That is what my husband tells me).

Anyway, I like your focus on the strength training. I try to do that when I am on the marathon "off" season. Replace some miles with some really great cross training and weights. It makes you feel better all around too, I think.

Okay, I am just blabbing. Please feel better in that leg. Spin class? Maybe that would help you a bit. Stretch, ice, and roll. You are on track here.
