Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

I met Callie at the rec center today.  It is always nice to have a friendly face meet you at 5:15am!

I was REALLY really nervous to start my "comeback" today.  I thought for sure, I would refracture it or break it from being clumsy on the treadmill. Just nerves!

My ankle feels fantastic (no pain), but my heel was still achy.  Before my stress fractures, my feet always ached at the end of the day from being on them all day long.  So I'm not sure if this is injury or normal life.

Walk 10 min

Run 5 min

Walk 5 min

Run 5 min

Cool down

Then off to the pool.  I only had 25 minutes till needed to be home.  So I swam and was on my merry way.

I will rest for 2 days then run on it again!

Was it the Orem Rec Center? If you want a Orem rec center buddy, hit me up! I'll run with you. Granted I probably won't keep up, but at least you'll have a friendly face & a motivator :)

Go, Toby!

I usually go to the AF rec center!

Actually, I stopped a lady last week at the AF rec and asked her if she was apart of FRB. She had a little girl that looked just like yours. Obviously, it wasn't you :)

aww, thanks for thinking it was me though! I'm glad you're getting back to running, and it means a lot to me that you regularly comment on my efforts. It's nice to have a friendly fellow runner supporting me :)

Maybe someday we can run together.

YEAH FOR RUNNING!!!!!! Glad it went well for you today. My feet always hurt, I think it is just part of life!

You did so well today! I was excited to be there and watch you run. You looked really happy and you looked good! Yeah for running! See you in the pool buddy. I need you to show how you use your watch. I think I was doing the hard way. :)

Yeah for a happy ankle. I hope the heel is okay and that you're able to run again in a couple of days.

Yay! I hope you are on the mend! How long have you been dealing w/ this injury? You have a great attitude! Wishing you the best with your next runs!!!!!!! I LOVE your little blip on the sidebar from the NIKE poster. That really sums up why we convert to running and never go back!
