But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

Instead of the "slow" box at the top of the screen where you put in your mileage, they need a "craptastic/ superslow/painful/put a gun to me now" box.  HOLY SMOKES....whatever greatness I had yesterday blew away with the snow storm.  

Granted it had only been 10 hours since I ran, but I felt horrible.  My legs felt like lead, I was breathing like I had just run a sprint and I had NO motivation.  I had to stop every mile and catch my breath (I was only running at a 6.4 mph....so sad).  Then when I did stop, I could feel the lactic acid slither down my legs.  I'm so darn glad this run is over because it was craptastic.  

Came home to find my 4 year old wide awake and wanting breakfast.  I did the *perfect mothering* thing...put her in front of the TV with a bowl of Life.  I took a fast shower and took a 30 minute nap.  I'm still dog tired though.  Glad this is all over.  Tomorrow is a rest day and a massage!

The most important thing is that you still got yourself running even when feeling rough. That's where consistency in training really counts! I've run many recovery runs in the 9-10 min mile range and that's as fast as I could go.

There should definitely be boxes for Feeling Terrible miles and Killing it! miles :o)

I agree with Andrea! Sometimes the effort put into a 10mm is MUCH more than effort into an 8mm - all depends on the day. You DID get out and do it though, less than 10 hours later. That alone, in my book, makes you a rockstar.

Nice work Toby! Hey, I have a proposal for the Saturday run. The American Flyers are doing a 16 miler on the Des News course. We will meet and carpool up Parley's canyon then run up the backside of Emigration then back down and to the cars. I know everyone coming will kick my proverbial trash on this run, but it sounds like a fun one. New scenery? PLUS it starts at 8AM!! I don't know if you'd have time for the scenic route, but just a proposal - then we could stick together. Plus, who doesn't love a good donwnhill run? :) It is totally worth the uphill. I can even meet you at Bangerter and I-15 then drive you to the meeting point so that you don't have to drive all the way up to I-215 and 3900S. So...do you have the time? It'll be fun!

Thanks ladies for the kind words! I can laugh at it now (after a nap and knowing tomorrow is a rest day), but I sure felt horrible at 5 am this morning!!

Rachel, Saturday sounds fun.....but am I going to be too slow for everyone? I need to make sure hubby doesn't have anything going on!

No, I'll run with you! Because I'll be too slow for that crowd (like 6:30-7:00 pace!). So, we can hang out together, but mooch on the ride up there and possibly some slow company that decides to hang with the 'cool crowd' in the back! :) I hope hubby is free!

Kudos for going out there at 5am, just 10 hours between the two runs! SUPER JOB!!! Taking care of all the little ones is an exhausting job! I'm glad you get to have a rest day and a massage tomorrow! You deserve it! :)
