Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

Pool run - 48 minutes (4.8 running miles)

Swim - 40 minutes (4 miles)

I went to the pool at the rec center after my kids were done with gymnastics.  It was CRAZY busy.  I felt like I was dodging little kids doing swim lessons, swim team, folks there to swim laps, and teenagers hanging out.

Pool run:

5 min warm up

12x2:30 minutes (30 sec recovery)

5 min cool down

Swim:

40 minutes (I have no idea how many laps - I was having to dodge lots of little bodies).

Felt good, but the ankle is still a bit achy.

You are so dedicated! When do you get to try running on your ankle?

Aunti-I'm week 7 of 8 weeks. I'm REALLY nervous to try it out. I did the stair climber last week and it has been a bit achy since then. Sometimes it's achy after I bike too. I'm not sure if that is the nature of the injury. I haven't cheated once either. Just wait and see :) Any thoughts or suggestions?

VERY AWESOME pool running yesterday and today! You are so dedicated and determined. Have you tried taping your ankle with KT tape? It might help. Crossing my fingers that you're good to go next week. Easy does it! You are so consistent and worked so hard at xtraining. You deserve a complete heal and 100% come back!

How are you feeling? Still hang in there. Only a few more weeks. Great motivating workouts even with all of the kiddos running around.

I second the KT tape suggestion. I love that stuff.

You are being very diligent with the pool workouts. Great job!

Dang sore ankle!!! But, 1 more week to go! Yeah, just take it easy and you will be fine!

So, anymore good finds in the cleaning? And do you want to come and do some of that at my house?
