Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

After 2 weeks of not getting up in the middle of the night to go to the gym (aka 4:55am), I had to do it today.  It was horrible.  I was up all night because I though I would sleep through my alarm.

Then, when I got home, my little guy was up super early, so no morning nap.  Urghhh.....I am tired!

I felt really good during the run though.  I wanted to go alittle faster to get home and get back to bed (though my plan backfired).  Lots of ice and stretching this morning.

Mile Splits (8:55, 8:29, 8:41, 9:00 big long hill, 8:09, 7:59, 6:57 big down hill)

I heard the best quote today...Doctors can't prescribe something better for the soul than a beautiful spring day.  Today's weather SO boosted my spirits.  I got a bunch of house cleaning done (even opened a few window)..yucky cleaning that I hate to do!

I was suppose to do 6 miles today.  My favorite route was partially closed due to construction, so I totally winged it.  I thought I needed to add on about .5-.75miles to my made up route because I thought I would be short, but ended up going WAY over my mileage for the day.

This run was a real mental booster for me.  I went a lot faster than I had planned on and felt really strong during those hills.  This run give me hope that I am getting stronger and faster (or maybe it is just a fluke!).

I am always sore when I do an evening run, then an early morning run.  But sore is all...no ankle or knee issues.  FANTASTIC!

I decided to go to the gym way early this morning and get my workout done (instead of doing it during preschool time...needed to head to the temple).  Oh those early mornings work me over in the tired department.

But I went slow and stopped and stretched a bunch!  I feel really good today and am still riding off yesterday's high.

Hope I can get some biking in tomorrow.

The run felt very very good today. No achy ankles or knees.  But I was a bit sore from the bike yesterday.  With this dumb mini spring coming up, I need to spend a lot more time on the bike....but I'm just so slow on it!

1:11:44 (AP 8:58) (9:46, 9:14, 9:02, 9:09 - said good bye to the gals, 8:42, 8:37, 8:52, 8:18)

What a fantastic run and morning!  I'm always a little nervous about running with people I haven't run with before. .....I'm afraid they will leave me in the dust.  But I felt like I was kinda on the same pace as Smooth, Karen, Luzy Lew and Rachel (or they were being really nice and slowing down to hang with me!!).

The weather was perfect and lots of great conversation.  It was so fun to get to know everyone better.  4 miles arrived so quickly and I was sad to say good bye (but not too sad that I didn't run 15 miles)!  The 4 miles back were not nearly as fun!

My ankle and knees feel really good.  I even got a massage today (my favorite gal had to reschedule a few times) and oh man....It was fantastic.  I think I'm going to make this a regular occurrence.  Thankfully, she is very affordable and neighbor!

Thanks for a wonderful wonderful run gals!

Smooth....here are a few more of my girlies in their dresses:
