Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

This is a designated easy week for me.  I have had 3 consecutive weeks of building my mileage and want to do this training thing right.  No more injuries or other shenanagins.

AND I have lots of stuff to do around the house.  I need to finish painting the master bedroom and bathroom - that is first.  Plus I have some major sewing stuff to do as well.  So it is a perfect week.

Run felt good and easy.  My legs felt fairly fresh, but kept the mileage and pace low.  Lots of stretching after.

I'm really enjoying my designated easy week.  The sleeping in and not as many hours training is great!  I finally finished painting my master bedroom and bath and am very pleased with the results.  During all my painting pondering hours, I decided I want to paint my entertainment center next.  But first I have to catch up on some sewing stuff.

Beautiful day for a run...shorts and t-shirt.  I ate a bunch of junk today and it felt like lead in my stomach.  Darn Easter candy!  I clicked my Garmin on and listened for beeps, but didn't look at the time.  I was really huffing and puffing......feeling a bit disturbed by this, I looked down at my watch and realized that I was going WAY faster than I had planned (9 minute mile).

I decided to keep the pace for as long as I could.  I had .5 mile till home and I was at puke phase.  I didn't let up and just hoped to make it.  I did.

I was really pleased with this run.  I wanted to run my feel and it took me a lot faster than I had planned.  It is always nice to have an out of the blue fast run.

Just kicked it in the cardio cinema room at the gym and watched "Remember the Titans".  I love that show.  Nice and slow!

I got my foam roller today.  I'm not really sure how to use it, but I think I rolled out my IT band....ouch!  Lots of stretching while watching the big game.

I got my 3rd place medal in the mail today...such a winner.  Hah!

Well, my easy week is over.  But it did it's job and I do feel rested.  I got lots of house jobs done.

I went to the gym this morning and put the kids in the daycare.  I tried to be quick because they don't really like.

I did foam rolling and stretching at home.  Ready to rock next week!
