Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

My foot was still tired and achy from the slip - sloshing around on Saturday.  So I decided to run on the home TM to be safe.  I also broke my running up to keep my foot happy.

3 mile run (28:26)

3x

Crossover drill

Lunge matrix

10 single leg hamstring lift

Touchdowns

3 mile run (26:01)

3x

30 donkey kicks

Stretch and foam roll.  All of this took 2:15 and I was definitely tired by the end!

Hooray for lots of snow today!  Merry Christmas!

A slow putter on the home TM. I finished my first I-book..12 Years a Slave. The end was really good and the first 4 miles flew by. And then I finished the book and had to watch the news for the last 2 miles. Boring! My foot was achy...but I scraped it last night.

3x

10 lunges with foot on bench

10 single leg hamstring lift

10 ball squats

10 front raise

10 front row

10 shoulder crossover

10 overhead press

10 butterfly

20 skullcrushers

Off to take the kids swimming so they don't combust with energy before the festivities start tonight.

I was up from 2-4:30am puking my guts outs. Maybe too many holiday treats! Once I got everything out, I felt so much better. We were suppose to go skiing as a family today. Though I felt a lot better, I didn't want to be puking on the slopes. So I stayed home with my two oldest girls...they want to spend their gift certificates they got for Christmas. I'm not sure what is worse with a crazy stomach....skiing or shopping.

I wanted to get some sort of a run in, so my goal was to get through a mile...then 2 miles...then 3. It was slow and I stopped a lot. Long stretching session.

Merry Christmas!

I'm definitely feeling better, but still weak after yesterday's puke fest. I was suppose to do 12 miles today, but just didn't have the energy or strength to do it. Oh well....I can't beat myself up over it.

3 slow miles on the home TM. But it took a lot of energy.

3x

Crossover drill

Touch downs

Lunge matrix

15 push ups

My husband's grandma past away, so we are traveling to her funeral today. It starts early, so I'm not sure if I will be able to workout. Maybe that will be for the best and my foot/stomach will feel better.
