Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

I slept in this morning, so ended up going to the gym tonight.  So  many more dudes and dudettes in the evening...ughhhh!  Thanks Hubby for letting me sneak out!!

6 miles on the stair mill (50:33)

This was the first time in awhile that I got "high".  Maybe because I had enough sleep, food and energy.  I was pushing myself at the end and I felt very in control.  Ankle was just a tiny bit achy only in the fracture spot.

After I wiped up my ocean of sweat, I did 3x

I have a crazy schedule today, so I got my tired hiney out of bed and headed to the gym.  They have the music turned up SO loud that I have a hard time hearing my own music.

I found a new glute workout on pinterest.

50 squats

30 walking lunges

20 jump squats

30 side lunges

50 bridges

You are suppose to do it 3 times, but sadly I could only do it once.

3 slow miles on the TM.

LLL and B6 after the run.  Stretch and foam roll.

On a side note, I am really liking all the lifting.  I feel like I am getting stronger.

I decided to do my "long" run today so I could have 2 recovery days till my next run.  It wasn't that long ago that I was saying "I only have have to run 13 miles today".  Hopefully soon enough :)

I was pleasantly surprised at how well the run went this morning.  Though I was slow, the effort was consistent and I was really trying to keep my form in check (I still have a long ways to go on the form issue).

No time to stretch or foam roll.

On a side note:  My chiropractor had a "free day" if you bring in canned goods.  So I went to get an adjustment on Wednesday.  He will often do ART on my calves.  I usually put chiropractors into the "witch doctor" category, but he  has been helpful in certain areas.

So while I was getting my adjustment, he told me about a seminar he had gone to about adjusting ankles (and how the ankles take so much shock when we land while running....it supposedly helps athletes).  He did an ankle adjustment on me too and surprisingly it felt great.  I guess I'm still a bit wary, but my ankle feels good (probably due to a combination of things).

Ooooo...I think I'm going to be sore tomorrow :) We were planning on skiing at Brighton today, but UDOT said 4 wheel drive or chains were required so our fun day went down the tube. The mini-van didn't make the cut!!! So sledding it was and driving grandma all over town.
